Tibet : Tibetan Singer In Hiding

Phul Chong, a famous Tibetan singer, recently fled his home following news of the Chinese Government's pursuit to arrest him.The Chinese Governemnet alleges that, through his song, he broke national unity and then wanted to arrest him.When Phul Chong got wind of his arrest, he took to his heels and is now in hiding.Phul Chong is born in Amchok village in the Marthang district of Amdo.He comes from a nomad family and is educated at the middle school level. He is said to have trained himself while grazing yaks. He has five albums to his name and a recurrent theme in his albums is Tibetan national pride. Popular amongst the nomads as he expresses their sentiments, many Tibetan people are said to call him "Pride Singer".
