CHINA REPORTS XINJIANG BOMB OPERATION UNCOVERED

A Chinese state news agency says security forces have arrested six suspects in a bomb-making operation in the volatile western region of Xinjiang.
The official Xinhua News Agency says the six had plotted bombings and that large amounts of bomb-making materials were seized during their arrests.
The report Wednesday does not say when the raid took place.
Xinhua says the suspects began making bombs following ethnic rioting in Xinjiang's capital Urumqi in July.
Xinhua identifies two of the six as ringleaders, and their names indicate they are probably members of the Turkic Muslim Uighur ethnic group.
