Chinese border police have deported to Nepal two groups of Tibetans who had sought to re-enter Tibet, some in hopes of reuniting with family members.One group of 11 men was forced over the border to Nepal on Aug.29, while a second group of four men and one woman was sent back on Aug.23.All had been held by Chinese police at a detention center in Shigatse, Tibet, after being detained at border crossings with Nepal at Dram, Nangpa La, and Nyalam.On their return to Nepal, both groups were taken to the Tibetan Refugee Reception Center in Kathmandu with the assistance of United Nations refugee work

A monk official at a monastery in Ngaba Prefecture who was arrested last week was known to be locked up at a detention centre in his native place.Lobsang Rabten, 34, of Gyalrong Tsodun Monastery in Barkham County in Nagab Prefecture was arrested on the night of August 19 from his monastery and had not been heard of until yesterday.The monks and the local Tibetans after extensive inquiry understood Lobsang Rabten is being locked up in his native Barkham County.Sources however said the locals and the monks are unaware of his Rabten’s present condition and the reasons for his arrest.

A Tibetan nun was severely beaten and arrested by Chinese police after she raised slogans in the main market in Karze in eastern Tibet on 25 August.Shedup Lhamo, a 33-year-old nun of Karze Gaden Choeling Nunnery, shouted slogans for the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, freedom for Tibetans and the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Tibet, while throwing pamphlets in the air.She was immediately apprehended and severely beaten by the police before being taken away to a prison. Tibet : China detains more monks in Ngaba County

Details are trickling out on arbitrary detentions of more monks amid an ongoing crackdown in Ngaba.Around 14 of this month, Lobsang Sangye, 30, a monk from Kirti Monastery, was arbitrarily detained for unknown reasons.On 17 August, another monk from Kirti Monastery, Lobsang Konchok, 40,was also detained on unknown charges.Both monks were detained by the Public Security Bureau personnel of Ngaba County.Their condition and whereabouts remain unknown.

A 34-year old Tibetan nomad, Shonu Palden, who was detained last June by Chinese security officers has gone 'missing'.Shonu was arrested on 18 June 2012 from his home in Rongkor nomadic area in Belpen village in Machu County, Kanlho Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, for allegedly leading protests in 2008.A group of officers from the local Stability Maintenance Bureau and Public Security Bureau arrested Shonu on 18 June and took him to the county detention centre where he was subjected to beatings and sustained questioning.
