Tibet : Tibetan Youth Protests Chinese official’s visit to Gonjo

Coinciding with the visit of a Chinese official to Gonjo, Kham, a Tibetan youth named Ngawang from Tikardrong Lanatsang, marched into the main street, protesting against the Chinese government’s oppressive rule in Tibet.
He was carrying a Tibetan national flag and shouted slogans for the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He called for an immediate end to the Chinese government’s brutal oppression in Tibet.He was arrested immediately by Chinese police. His current whereabouts and well-being remains unknown.

21-year-old Kirti monk Losang Tsering's whereabouts are not known after his arrest at the monastery by Ngaba police on June 26.His relatives have been to many different offices looking for him, but without success; he has disappeared.Losang Tsering, from Bato Dewa village, Lota township in lower Ngaba, joined Kirti monastery at a young age and had been staying there permanently.It is not known on what charges Lobsang Tsering was arrested and where he is being held and in what condition.Kirti Monastery has been under siege by Chinese security forces for more than a year amid a wave of self-immo

Lobsang Lozin, a monk of Gyalrong Tsodun Kirti Monastery in Bharkham, set himself on fire shouting slogans and marched towards town office around 12:00 hrs (local time) today. He died on the spot.Prayer services and preparations for his funeral to be held today evening are underway.Lobsang Lozin, son of Jorgye and Tsepopo, was one of the best students in Tsodun Kirti Monastery.Gyalrong Tsodun Kirti Monastery is located about 85 km from Barkham county.A large contingent of armed police are moving towards Barkham following the incident.

A Tibetan man who set himself on fire on 7 July 2012 in Tibet Autonomous Region has reportedly died.The 22 year-old Tibetan man was identified as Tseten Dorjee, from Damshung County in Lhasa Municipality, TAR.Several media reports said Tseten Dorjee died later that night.Tseten Dorjee reportedly self-immolated in the centre of Damshung County.Tsetan Dorjee walked some distance and called for the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, according to sources quoted by the media.Within minutes security personnel arrived at the site and took a severely burnt Tseten Dorjee to hospital.Reports also

Chinese authorities have sentenced the director of a Tibetan monastery and two of his subordinates to between nine and 11 years in prison for “instigating” the self-immolation of another monk.The three monks belonged to Bongtak monastery in Themchen and were implicated in the death of Damchoe Sangpo, a 40-year-old monk who burned himself to death in February in protest against Chinese rule.The director of Bongtak monastery, Venerable Jamsem, was sentenced to nine years, while his subordinates Khendup and Samgyal were sentenced to 11 and 10 years, respectively.

On July 1 the body of 43 year old monk, Drakmar Phelgye was discovered by fellow monks, near a Police station in Palung County.Pelgye hails from Drakmar village of Bayen County located in the Amdo region. He belonged to the Xaichong monastery and also kept the books of the place. Being the accountant of the monastery proved to be fatal to Phelgye.On June 20 he went missing and subsequently there was a search party from Shachung monastery that went out looking for him.
