China conducts second anti-terror drill in Tibetan capital Lhasa

The occupying Chinese army in Tibet conducted the second of two anti-terror drills in the past week to safeguard against a "criminal gang" plotting a large scale explosion in Tibetan capital Lhasa.
Officials said that holding such simulated attacks would enhance police and military personnel's ability to handle emergencies and bolster their determination and self-confidence, effectively maintaining social stability in the Tibetan Autonomous Region.

Wei Jingsheng Speaks As a Witness for the Suppression of Chinese Workers by the Chinese Communist Party at the TLHRC Congressional Hearing

On Tuesday, September 29, 2009, The Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission (TLHRC) of the US Congress held a hearing about human rights in China on the eve of the 60th Anniversary of the People's Republic of China. Two of the most outstanding human rights champions in the US Congress, Rep. Frank Wolf and Rep. Chris Smith, co-chaired the hearing.

Various experts were invited to testify at the hearing, including Wei Jingsheng of the China Labor Union, Harry Wu of the Laogai Research Foundation, Ting Shum of the League of Chinese Victims, and Sophie Richardson of Human Rights Watch.

Falun Gong Practitioner Dies from Psychiatric Torture in Southeast China

New York—A 40-year-old female Falun Gong practitioner in Hunan province has died in custody, apparently due to psychiatric torture, the Falun Dafa Information Center recently learned. The woman had been detained in May 2008 in a local crackdown before the Olympic Torch passed through the province.

Tibetans face increased restrictions on prayer and travel ahead of a sensitive Chinese anniversary.
DHARAMSALA—As authorities prepare for sensitive anniversary celebrations across China, a growing security presence in the country’s west is limiting the religious practices and travel of Tibetans, residents say.
The increased security, residents say, is targeting several areas within China’s Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), as well as other parts of the country inhabited by Tibetans.

Right before October 1, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) sealed off Beijing and spent a fortune for a large-scale military show. Meanwhile, the CCP's 60 years of robbing China also become a hot subject. In the evening of September 16, Wei Jingsheng, the chairman of the Overseas Chinese Democracy Coalition, attended and spoke at a seminar in the greater Washington metro area. On July 9th, 2008, before the Olympics in Beijing, 30-40 police officers from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) broke the windows to Ms. Wang Hongxia's home, entered and arrested her and her husband, Mr. Jiang Zhenbo. On August 8th, 2008, Ms. Wang was taken to the Shandong Province Second Women's Forced Labour Camp located in the Wangcun area of Zibo City. Within six months, the torture she endured in the camp caused Ms. Wang to develop tumours of various sizes in her armpit and on her breasts.

The Dag Hammerskjold Plaza opposite the United Nations building in New York was filled with angry protesters yesterday as Chinese president Hu Jintao arrived to deliver his first address at the United Nations on climate change.
Tibetans, Chinese, Taiwanese, Burmese, and Falun Dafa followers voiced their angst in unison against the Chinese president who they accused of oppressing thousands of innocent peoples.

Police Enforced Family Burial

The father of an ethnic Uyghur man in northwest China says police turned out in force.
HONG KONG—Police in China’s remote Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region surrounded the home of an ethnic Uyghur man who died in police custody and forced the family to bury him without an inquiry into how he died, the man’s father said.
The burial on Sunday ended a tense standoff between police in remote Lengger [in Chinese, Langan] village and the family of Shohret Tursun, 31, whose badly bruised and disfigured body was released to his relatives on Saturday.

Chinese authorities assault journalists: Japan news agency

TOKYO (AFP) – Chinese authorities assaulted three journalists from a Japanese news agency in their Beijing hotel room, the agency said early Saturday, kicking them and destroying two computers.
The three journalists from Kyodo News were in the Chinese capital covering a National Day rehearsal when authorities stormed into the room of their hotel Friday night, the news agency said.

Beijing students protest teacher's detention

BEIJING – Nearly a hundred university students gathered outside a Beijing district police bureau Sunday to demand the release of a lecturer — a former leader of 1989 Tiananmen pro-democracy demonstrations — who they believe is being held unfairly by authorities.
It was the second day that students turned up at the public security bureau in the capital's Haidian district to call on police to release Ding Xiaoping, who lectures on various topics at several universities, said Yu Zhiwei, who joined the students Sunday.

Il signor Sun Xi, residente della città di Yanji, provincia di Jilin, è stato arrestato in ottobre 2000. Ha ricevuto una condanna molto pesante ed è stato mandato nella prigione di Tiebei a Chuangchun nella primavera di 2002. Il signor Sun ha sopportato dei pestaggi brutali e altre forme di torture mentre era in detenzione e come conseguenza aveva i muscoli delle gambe atrofizzati, che gli causavano grosse difficoltà nel camminare. Dopo che è stato rilasciato, il signor Sun è stato costretto a rimanere a letto, tossiva sangue ed era incontinente. È deceduto il 5 agosto 2009.

China vows separatism crackdown

China's ruling Communist Party (CPC) has vowed to take tough action on ethnic separatist activity, as it concludes its annual conference.
Following its four-day summit, the CPC announced it intended to "effectively prevent and resolutely crack down on ethnicity-related separatist activities".

EAST TURKESTAN : DEATH IN CUSTODY

Tursun, a member of the Uyghur ethnic minority, was among some 40 men from Qorghas detained around the time of deadly protests July 5 in the regional capital, Urumqi.
The village imam, Alim Kari, described Tursun’s body as badly disfigured but said he was required to urge the family to bury Tursun.
“I saw the dead body—it was bruised and dark all over,” Kari said. “All the family was crying…his mother was slapping herself. The whole neighborhood is in chaos.”

Cina : Il signor Jiang Bingzhi deceduto mentre era detenuto nel campo di lavoro forzato di Suihua

Il signor Jiang, un contadino una volta in forma fisica, è stato mandato nel campo di lavoro forzato di Suihua il 30 ottobre 2008. La direzione del campo ha avvisato recentemente la sua famiglia che è entrato in coma. La sua famiglia l’ha visto nell’ospedale della città di Bei’an con tutte e due le gambe coperte di lividi ed era sull’orlo della morte. Soltanto alcuni giorni dopo, è deceduto il 26 agosto 2009.

CHINA REPORTS XINJIANG BOMB OPERATION UNCOVERED

A Chinese state news agency says security forces have arrested six suspects in a bomb-making operation in the volatile western region of Xinjiang.
The official Xinhua News Agency says the six had plotted bombings and that large amounts of bomb-making materials were seized during their arrests.
The report Wednesday does not say when the raid took place.
Xinhua says the suspects began making bombs following ethnic rioting in Xinjiang's capital Urumqi in July.

Beijing Students Threatened Failed Grades, Expulsion for Complaining

University students are being threatened with forced labor and expulsion from school should they complain too loudly about strict parade drills being forced upon them, reports say. As Beijing authorities gear up for the 60-year celebration of the Chinese Communist Party seizing power, they are anxious to keep a lid on any simmering tensions.

Some Beijing students burned their uniforms in public and refused to endure the drills for the upcoming Oct. 1 parade, according to a recent article in Hong Kong’s Chengming Magazine.
