3,000 Ningbo Salt Farmers Protest Met Armed Force

More than 3,000 farmers from Changguo County Salt Farms in eastern China’s Ningbo protested against suppression and injustice on the morning of July 25. They gathered around the south bound coastal highway, blocking traffic. The local regime sent forth 300 riot and armed police. The protest ended with two farmers beaten till unconscious, more than 10 injured, and 6 arrested.

Rebiya Kadeer, the exiled Uighur leader, today claimed that almost 10,000 Uighurs had "disappeared" during ethnic unrest in China's north-western region of Xinjiang earlier this month and called on the international community to launch an inquiry.
Speaking during a controversial visit to Japan, Kadeer said Chinese authorities had used undercover "snatch squads" to target Uighurs during clashes between Uighur and Han Chinese in the city of Urumqi on 5 July.

China presses Nepal to crackdown on Tibetans

Nepal, under increasing pressure from China, was cracking down on Tibetan refugees despite centuries of shared culture with Tibet.
Pre-emptive arrests of Tibetans, ID checks and house searches by authorities were contributing to a widespread sense of fear and insecurity among the exiles.
Nepali officials did not comment immediately but the impoverished nation considers Tibet as part of China, a key trading partner and aid donor.

Tearing Down Old Kashgar: Another Blow to the Uighurs

In 1072, a medieval scholar named Mahmud Kashgari — from, as his name suggests, the Silk Road outpost of Kashgar — presented a landmark text to the Caliph of Baghdad. It was the first ever compendium of the Turkish language, the babble of tongues spoken by nomadic tribes who roamed between the shores of the Caspian Sea and the wastes of Siberia. Despite the scope of his work, Kashgari was proudest of his hometown, boasting that the Turkic dialect there was the "purest" and "most elegant" of them all.

China : Mr. Sun Xiaojun Dies as a Result of Torture by the Zhejiang Province Police Department and the Fourth Prison of Linping City

Mr. Sun Xiaojun from Fuyang City was tortured to the point of death by the Zhejiang Province Police Department and the Fourth Prison of Linping City. Since being released on June 30th, 2009, he had not been able to eat. He vomited even drinking water and was bedridden even while relieving himself. He was delirious and experienced continual cramping in his body. At 11:00 p.m. on July 15th, 2009, he passed away.

On 21 July more than 100 villagers of Tiefo town, Tongjiang county, Sichuan, surrounded and stormed the Tiefo police station due to corruption by village and town cadres; a patrol car was smashed; currently four villagers are in custody; this was confirmed to us by the Tiefo police station. After the Xinjiang "7.5" incident, Hubei's Shishou city has issued massive summons to arrest the participants in the extraordinarily massive demonstration on 20 June; 120 people are in custody, 20 of whom are formally arrested; some demonstrators may face the death penalty.

More than 3,000 villagers in eastern China blocked a highway and clashed with police while protesting alleged official corruption in a land compensation deal, a human rights monitor and a witness said Sunday.
Ten residents of Shipu town, in Zhejiang province, were injured in the clash with more than 300 riot police Saturday, the Hong Kong-based Information Center for Human Rights and Democracy said in a faxed statement.
Another resident said thousands of people had been staging a sit-in on the land for nearly a week.

China : 30,000 steelworkers clash with police,hundred injured

Chinese steelworkers clashed with police in a protest over plans to merge their mill with another company and beat the company's general manager to death, a human rights monitor said Saturday.
Several hundred people were injured in the clash Friday in the northeastern city of Tonghua, the Hong Kong-based Information Center for Human Rights and Democracy said in a faxed statement.
Angry Tonghua employees attacked Jianlong general manager Chen Guojun during the protest and beat him to death, the center said. It said friends of Chen confirmed he was dead.

Turkey reviews defense agreements with China after crackdown on Uighurs in Xinjiang

ANKARA — Turkey government has come under internal political pressure to suspend defense relations with China.
Turkish government sources said Prime Minister Recep Erdogan has received appeals from Islamist parliamentarians to suspend defense projects with China. The sources said many members of the ruling Justice and Development Party have been angered by China's crackdown on Uighur Muslims.

"Nothing has been affected yet, but there is a threat that Erdogan will have to respond to the Chinese crackdown," a government source said.

Chinese Regime May Execute Arrested Uyghurs, Says Exiled Leader

Exiled American Uyghur leader Rebiya Kadeer called on the United States government to break its silence and to strongly condemn China’s actions regarding the Xinjiang riots. Rebiya warned that the Chinese regime may execute Uyghurs who were arrested after the riots.

BBC Chinese news reported that Rebiya said that she hopes the United States will stop regarding the Uyghurs’ predicament as trivial and speak up against the suppression. She believes the government’s current apathy will only allow Beijing to continue its unrestrained suppression.
