Two monks arrested in Tsawa Pashoe

Dharamsala, Jan. 31 – Two Tibetan monks from Tsawa Pashoe Mera monastery in Chamdo prefecture of the Tibet Autonomous Regionhave been arrested by Chinese authorities on the evening of January 29, Voice of Tibet radio service reported citing sources with contacts in the area.

Tenzin Choephel, 16, and Lobsang Gyaltsen, 20, protested in front of the Pashoe county administrative office on Thursday evening, a monk of Sera monastery in south India told VOT.

The two monks chanted slogans like “independence for Tibet” and “wake up Tibetan brothers and sisters”.

A Tibetan man blinded and sentenced to four years' in jail in Ngaba

The intermediate people's court of Ngaba County in Sichuan province sentenced a Tibetan to four years' jail term for spearheading protests in Ngaba County last year, according to confirmed information received by the Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD) from reliable sources.

BEIJING – Hua Zaichen, 91, whom authorities have repeatedly denied a final meeting with his imprisoned wife Shuang Shuying 79, was hospitalized on January 28. Sources report that officials are fearful they will be held accountable for his death because of the international attention to this case. ChinaAid urges the international community to speak out for this elderly Christian couple whom authorities have treated with cruelty and injustice.

During the week before the 2009 Chinese New Year, the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) Political Bureau Central Committee held a meeting to discuss propaganda campaigns outside China for the upcoming year.
During the meeting’s concluding speech, the Standing Committee member who is in charge of “ideology” pointed out that due to the joint efforts of the Propaganda Department, the “United Front” and the Foreign Affairs departments over the past decade, most overseas Chinese media companies very much carry the identity of the CCP’s policies and practices.

Sichuan: La signora Wang Zhongqiong e la signora Chen Ru della città di Deyang, condannate alla prigione

L'8 dicembre 2008, la corte del Partito Comunista Cinese (PCC) ha condannato le praticanti del Falun Gong signore Wang Zhongqiong e Chen Ru, rispettivamente, a quattro e tre anni di prigione. Durante il processo, il giudice non ha consentito che i loro parenti le difendessero o che nominassero un difensore. Il processo è stato condotto in modo affrettato e non accurato.

TYC declares 2009 a “Black Year” for Tibet

Dharamsala, January 29: The largest pro-independence group in the exile Tibetan community today sent a radical signal to Tibetans worldwide to forgo this year’s Losar (Tibetan New Year) celebrations and to observe 2009 as a “Black Year” to stand in solidarity with fellow brethrens in Tibet.

Tibetan Youth Congress today announced that it will instead organize a series of protest and signature campaigns during and around Losar time to highlight China’s “illegal occupation of Tibet” and the plight of Tibetan people under its decades of repressive rule.

Uno dei giovani tibetani arrestati dopo la manifestazione del 20 gennaio a Chamdo è morto per le torture subite in carcere.
Mi hanno anche riferito che altri due detenuti versano in gravi condizioni per le percosse ed i maltrattamenti inflitti dalla polizia politica comunista.

Ieri la polizia cinese ha aperto il fuoco sui religiosi del monastero di Dege (Kham ) che manifestavano contro la campagna di “rieducazione patriottica”.
Molti monaci sono stati tratti in arresto e deportati in una località sconosciuta.
Non si conosce l’esatto numero dei feriti.

BEIJING (Reuters) - China is marking 20 years since the death of the second-most senior figure in Tibetan Buddhism by lauding him as an enemy of separatism in the restive region as it enters a year laden with tense anniversaries.
The death on January 28, 1989, of the 10th Panchen Lama, revered by Tibetans for championing their rights, deprived Chinese authorities of a buffer against discontent in the mountain region and helped stir demonstrations and riots in the regional capital Lhasa weeks later.

Three monks and a nun from Kardze sentenced

Three Tibetan monks from Kardze monastery and a nun from Kardze Gaden Choeling nunnery have been sentenced to various prison terms, according to sources with contacts in Kardze.

HONG KONG—Authorities in Beijing have detained a group of "petitioners," ordinary Chinese citizens with grievances against the government, outside the official residence of Premier Wen Jiabao.

Li Zhongying, a petitioner from the southwestern province of Yunnan, was removed by police from Wen's Beijing residence, where she said she was waiting to wish him a happy Year of the Ox.

The mother of a 17-year-old boy who died in police custody has demanded an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death, as China's petitioners gear up for a season of parliamentary meetings.
HONG KONG--The mother of a teenage boy in the central Chinese city of Luoyang has called on local officials to carry out a full investigation into the death of her son.

Chen Feng, 17, died Dec. 24 in a Luoyang hospital where he was taken while serving an 18-month "re-education through labor" sentence on charges of theft.

Democracy Activist Detained for Ten Years, No Visitors Allowed By Zheng Yuwen

WASHINGTON—Chinese democracy activist Qin Yongmin has been incarcerated for the past 10 years. His family files annual requests to visit for Chinese New Year but the Chinese authorities have consistently denied his visitation rights.
Qin was sentenced to 12 years prison in 1998 on charges of “subverting state power,” after he formed the China Democracy Party in the central city of Wuhan, Hubei Province.

La persecuzione dei praticanti del Falun Gong nella divisione del campo di lavoro di Pechino

Secondo l’articolo del sito internet Minghui del 3 marzo 2004 la divisione del campo di lavoro di Pechino si trova a Tuanhe, nella contea di Daxin, Pechino.
Le persone che sono condannate ai lavori forzati (tra i quali i praticanti del Falun Gong) provenienti da diversi luoghi vengono temporaneamente detenuti in quel luogo. Secondo i praticanti che vi sono stati il posto è famigerato per le atrocità commesse dalla polizia.

Few Lunar celebrations for jobless in China

LANKAO, China (AFP) — Beaten, cheated and underpaid in cities, rural migrant worker Cheng Wenlong trekked home for the Lunar New Year with no job and few plans to celebrate China's most important holiday.
"I was not able to bring home anything. What's the point of celebrating?" said the 19-year-old who is meant to be the main money earner for his family after his father died in a road accident eight years ago.

Appellant Exposes Forced Labor Camp Secrets

Recently Sound of Hope (SOH) interviewed Wang Ling, an appellant in Beijing. She disclosed the many inhumane tortures the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) uses to coerce Falun Gong practitioners into giving up their belief. Wang also talked about her stay in a forced labor camp. She said that Falun Gong practitioners came and went frequently. Often in the middle of the night, men in white hats and clothes would come into the cells and take the practitioners away while they were still asleep.

India Bans Toy Imports From China

India on Friday banned imports of several types of toys from China.
A government statement did not give details but industry officials said the order would ban imports of almost all toys from China.
The Toy Association of India's president, Raj Kumar, said the ban would severely hit imports of Chinese toys, but Indian authorities had likely taken the step in the interest of the economy.

China Jittery About Obama Amid Signs of Harder Line

WASHINGTON — Whether it was a shot across the bow or a simple restatement of his boss’s views, Timothy F. Geithner’s assertion that China “manipulates” its currency has complicated a crucial front in President Obama’s efforts to improve America’s relations with the world.
China experts here said there were several other signs that the Obama administration could take a harder line toward Beijing, including Mr. Obama’s emphasis on climate change and the environment in trade negotiations and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s focus on human rights.

This decision was made with an intention to mourn the deaths of the hundreds of Tibetan who were killed by the Chinese military since March last year and to express our deepest solidarity with the thousands of Tibetans who continue to languish in the prisons in Tibet and to express empathy with Tibetans inside Tibet; affected by last year's brutal clampdown.

Tibetans in Chamdo Protest China's Patriotic Education, 6 Detained

Dharamshala: For raising their voice against the Chinese government's reinforcement of Patriotic Education of denouncing His Holiness the Dalai Lama and its propaganda, six Tibetan youths have been detained by police in Dzogang (Ch:Zuogong) county of the Chamdo prefecture of the Tibet Autonomous Region.

According to sources, on 20 January, at around 2 – 3 p.m. (local time), a group of Tibetan youths protested in Dzogang [in Chinese, Zuogong] county of the Chamdo [in Chinese, Changdu] prefecture of the Tibet Autonomous Region.

Tibetan Protesters Beaten, Detained

Tibetans and police report a protest and an explosion in the Tibet Autonomous Region.
KATHMANDU—Three Tibetans protesting Chinese rule in the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) have been beaten and detained by police amid rising tensions in the run-up to politically sensitive anniversaries in the Himalayan region.
Separately, police officials in the same part of Tibet confirmed an explosion earlier this month at a government building near the Jan. 20 protest. Sources said no one died in the blast.

Sabato scorso ,alle 10,00 ,nei pressi dell’ufficio postale centrale di Kardze i tibetani hanno distribuito volantini e inneggiato all’indipendenza del Tibet
La polizia li ha prima brutalmente percossi e poi arrestati.

Abbiamo notizie di molti processi sommari in corso che si concluderanno con pesanti condanne per i patrioti.

In alcune località i tibetani si stanno organizzando per boicottare i festeggiamenti del Losar in programma per la fine di Febbraio.

Yao Lifa, a well-known advocate of free elections from Hubei province in central China, was due to attend the reception held by the U.S. consulate in Wuhan, the provincial capital.

La Prigione Femminile N. 2 di Yunnan è un luogo che detiene criminali e praticanti di Falun Gong. Le praticanti di Falun Gong sono trattate più duramente delle criminali. Non appena arrivano le praticanti, vengono rinchiuse in piccole celle nel Palazzo N. 1. Non hanno il permesso di uscire dalle loro celle se non per andare ai servizi, la qual cosa è limitata a tre volte al giorno. Per questo motivo, molte praticanti soffrono di stitichezza, infezioni alla vescica e cicli mestruali irregolari.
