Death of Falun Gong practitioner from abuse day before opening ceremonies revealed
NEW YORK (FDI) –A painter from Hunan province, arrested in a nationwide pre-Olympic roundup of Falun Gong adherents, died the day before the opening ceremonies from injuries incurred in custody. Detained in March, an emaciated Mr. Hu Heping from Yueyang city died August 7, 2008 according to recent reports received by The Falun Dafa Information Center. He was 55 years old.

Chinese Authorities Suppress the Uyghur People’s Religious Practice

The Uyghur people in Xinjiang will start a religious ritual, the annual Sunnah of Fasting starting September 3rd for a month. Some residents in Xinjiang called Radio Free Asia (RFA) saying that the authorities oppose the ritual.

A clash has erupted between petitioners and local police in Chengdu after Chief Magistrate of Chengdu Intermediate People’s Court Niu Ming refused to see petitioners on a designated reception day after the Olympics.

Police Kill 6 Uighurs in East Turkestan

Chinese police investigating a spate of attacks this month in the Xinjiang autonomous region killed six suspects and arrested three others.
An exile group accused the police Saturday of shooting the suspects, members of the Uighur ethnic group, after they surrendered. The police say they encountered the suspects near Kashgar on Friday, the official Xinhua News Agency reported. A policeman and a local militia member were wounded, the report said.

Cina : Altri Due Praticanti della Falun Dafa Uccisi dalla “Ripulitura” Olimpica

Non lontano dalle competizioni della vela, praticanti del Falun Gong torturati a morte
FDI – Nella provincia di Shandong, sede delle competizioni di vela delle Olimpiadi 2008, due praticanti del Falun Gong sono stati torturati a morte prima dei giochi. Il signor Zhong Zhenfu della città di Pingdu è morto il 20 luglio e la signora Liu Xiumei della città di Zhucheng è morta il 27 luglio, meno di due settimane prima della cerimonia di apertura. Lo riferiscono due rapporti ricevuti dal Falun Dafa Information Center.

Liaoning: Informazioni riguardanti la signora Chen Yumei picchiata a morte dalla polizia della città di Shenyang

Il corpo della signora Chen Yumei è stato cremato il 6 luglio 2008. Lei è stata arrestata la sera del 3 luglio 2008, e brutalmente picchiata da funzionari della stazione di polizia Chang'an del distretto di Dadong, città di Shenyang, provincia di Liaoning fino a quando ha perso la conoscenza. E’ deceduta la sera del 4 luglio 2008, all’età di 48 anni.

Il CIO : La Cina si prodiga per i diversamente abili
Nei mesi scorsi la signora Meng Weina, fondatrice della Huiling (organizzazione non governativa per il servizio ai disabili mentali) scrisse indignata una lettera al Presidente del Comitato olimpico internazionale ,ed al Comitato olimpico internazionale dei disabili, per denunciare il comportamento gangsteristico dei dirigenti della “Federazione dei disabili cinesi”.

Cina : Nuovo "incidente" in una miniera di carbone

Stamane a Tangshan ,località che si trova a circa 200 km da Pechino,è crollata una galleria e 9 minatori sono rimasti intrappolati.
Secondo i soccorritori le possibilità di portare in salvo i lavoratori sono scarse.
La totale mancanza di misure di sicurezza ed i turni di lavoro massacranti ( 12/14 ore al giorno ) hanno già provocato la morte di migliaia di minatori dall’inizio dell’anno.

Tibetan Monks Still Held in Qinghai

Months after widespread Tibetan protests against Chinese rule, hundreds of monks are detained in Qinghai.
KATHMANDU—Hundreds of Tibetan monks detained after widespread protests against Chinese rule earlier this year were deported from the Tibetan capital Lhasa to remote Qinghai province, where they remain in custody, according to Tibetan sources.

Monks from two major Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, Sera and Drepung, both in the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), may have been targeted because they were seen as playing a leading role in the demonstrations, the sources said.

Liaoning court convicts Falun Gong practitioners on unfounded evidence

The Jinzhou City People’s Court in Liaoning Province has handed a hefty 13 year imprisonment on August 27 to Falun Gong practitioner Liu Mei Fong, and 6 years to Qu Chenyei, Huang Chen and Zhang Xiulan on alleged charges of “use of evil cult organization to undermine the enforcement of State laws”. Defence lawyers have argued that the materials relied on by investigators are fabricated with totally unfounded evidence and the sentence is a miscarriage of justice which tramples on the civil rights of residents.

Protests Continue in Kathmandu : 120 arrested

Kathmandu, 28 August - Today over 120 Tibetan protesters were arrested on Hattisar road, close to the Consulate of the 'People's' Republic of China. Most of the protesters arrived in a hired bus, pulling out swathes of Tibetan flags as they walked towards the Consulate. However, the Nepalese police were already waiting.

Tibetans to resume protests in Nepal

Kathmandu, August 28 - Tibetan activists plan to resume protest rallies in front of the Chinese embassy in Kathmandu tomorrow even though Nepal's new Maoist-led government is expected to treat demonstrators harshly.
Nepal's Tibetan residents, who number more than 15,000 and form the world's largest population of Tibetan refugees after that of India, protested regularly at the embassy during the run-up to the Beijing Olympics in spite of harsh police beatings and mass arrests.

Chinese Authorities Abuse Petitioners in Liaoning

Li Sufen from Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning, said some petitioners are being held at a basement of the Hunbei Ecological Hotel in Lanjian Village of Tiaxi district.
Li said she has been appealing to authorities for 18 years.
She was shocked to be arrested in her rental property on the eve of the Olympics because she had promised the local government that she would not petition or cause trouble during the Olympics.
Li was on house arrest throughout the Games.
“I was arrested in my home in Beijing on August 5. I had already promised not to appeal, but they still arrested me.

Right advocate: CCP won’t free detainees

The Beijing Olympics has come to an end, but will those rights advocates, dissidents and petitioners who are detained and placed under house arrest by the Communist regime be released while larger-scale arrests are in progress. On August 26, Shanghai rights activist Chang Xong-Fa expressed in an interview with an SOH reporter that the Communists will not free the detainees.

Migliaia di tibetani hanno dovuto abbandonare le loro case dopo la forte scossa di terremoto registrata nella Prefettura di Xigaze.
Sembra che il sismo non abbia provocato vittime ma al momento non è ancora possibile fare un bilancio , in particolare dei danni subiti dalle abitazioni.
I soccorsi sono arrivati con grande ritardo e la gente ha bisogno di tutto.

Mass arrests by Shenyang police under banner of Olympic security

Young author Sun Fuquan from Shenyang province was arrested on the eve of the Olympic Games by local police for allegedly inciting to subvert state power. He was illegally detained for twenty eight days and released only after his family paid five thousand Yuan. Sun suffered oppression after he published a song assessing the nineteen eighty nine pro-democracy rallies and also assisted retired servicemen to protect their rights. He says Shenyang police were motivated by large bonus before the Olympics to instigate mass arrest innocent citizens under the banner of Olympic security.

China detains underground Catholic bishop: report

BEIJING (AP) — Security agents detained an elderly bishop of an underground Catholic church in northern China hours before the closing of the Olympic Games, a U.S.-based group said Monday.
Bishop Julius Jia Zhiguo, 73, of Zhengding, a city in northern Hebei province, was taken by six government officials from his cathedral on Sunday morning, the Cardinal Kung Foundation said in a statement.

The independent foundation, which aims to promote the Roman Catholic Church in China, said it did not know where or why Jia was being detained.

Rights group demands China stop torturing jailed activist

Beijing - An international human rights group on Friday urged China to stop torturing Liu Jie, an activist who is serving 18 months in a labour camp for organizing a petition signed by more than 12,000 people seeking political reforms.
The group, Chinese Human Rights Defenders, said in a statement that Liu has been subjected to torture since August 15 when she was beaten by a guard in a labour camp in northern China's Heilongjiang province for confronting him about the mistreatment of a fellow detainee.
