Soltanto ieri sera ho appreso di nuovi arresti e di nuove condanne.
Qualche settimana fa il tribunale di Lhasa ha segretamente processato un gruppo di giovani tibetani detenuti da mesi. Sono state inflitte pene che vanno dai 10 ai 20 anni di carcere duro per aver manifestato nelle strade della capitale.
Sempre nelle scorse settimane un monaco ed un laico sono invece stati arrestati per aver partecipato ad un corteo di protesta il 14 Marzo.Alcuni amici del religioso sostengono che nel frattempo è morto per le torture subite.

L’ambasciatore della Repubblica Popolare Cinese, Sun Yuxi arriva all’orto botanico in perfetto orario con il solito codazzo di guardie del corpo ed assistenti per salutare l’atleta Agnese Allegrini in partenza per le Olimpiadi Pechino. Per l’illustre ospite si mobilitano tutti, Sindaco, assessori, forze di polizia, passando per rappresentanti di federazioni sportive. Dopo un breve saluto da parte della presentatrice ed un preambolo dell’Assessore la Rosa, vengono invitati sul palco il Sindaco di Santa Marinella e l’ambasciatore cinese.

Pechino 2008 : Appello dal Verbano

L’ 8 Agosto inizieranno le Olimpiadi di Pechino. La festa organizzata dal regime comunista cinese e sostenuta dalle grandi multinazionali ha molti invitati. Parteciperanno all’evento uomini del regime, speculatori finanziari, manager delle multinazionali, politici occidentali ipocriti, ricchi borghesi, avventurieri e sordi di professione. Tutte queste persone negano con la loro presenza il grido di una verità storica clamorosa: l’esistenza dei laogai (campi di concentramento dove soffrono la schiavitù milioni di persone).

Trade Talks Broke Down Over Chinese Shift on Food

HONG KONG — China and India have seldom shared the same views on free trade in recent years, but they ended up on the same side at the collapse of world trade talks in Geneva on Tuesday because China made an abrupt about-face.
Growing worries in China about food security now appear to have overridden the country’s previous commitment to free trade — a commitment that has served it well until now as the country with the world’s second-largest trade surplus after Germany.

In città stanno affluendo nuovi contingenti e ai militari cinesi vengono sospese tutte le licenze sino alla fine dei Giochi Olimpici. Segno evidente che temono nuove proteste.
Oggi ho avuto la conferma che molti quadri e funzionari di nazionalità tibetana sono stati espulsi dal partito e licenziati. Li hanno accusati di essere stati”troppo indulgenti”con i rivoltosi.

A Karze e Lithang ormai ci sono più militari che abitanti.Tutti i monasteri sono sotto stretta sorveglianza.
La polizia costringe i tibetani ad issare la bandiera cinese anche sul tetto delle case.

New Delhi, July 30 - Kunsang Sonam was in the middle of the Lhasa uprising when it happened on March 10 this year. He managed to escape over into Nepal and live to tell of the terror that had gripped his homeland. A first person account of a protestor and eyewitness in Lhasa was organized by the Friend's of Tibet on Tuesday at the India International Centre, New Delhi. The talk was moderated by Tenzin Tsundue, Tibetan activist and poet.

China arrests four Tibetans for protesting against festival to greet Olympics

Four Tibetan youth in Nangchen County in north eastern Qinghai Province were arrested on 26 July 2008 by the Chinese Public Security Bureau (PSB) officials for protesting against the Summer Festival planned by the Chinese government to greet the upcoming Beijing Olympic Games, according to confirmed information received by the Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD).

Labor Camp for Quake Teacher

Authorities in China sentence a teacher who criticized the construction in quake-hit schools to one year in a labor camp, his wife says.
HONG KONG—Police in Sichuan have sentenced a middle-school teacher who openly criticized the construction of school buildings that collapsed in large numbers during the May 12 earthquake to one year of "re-education through labor," according to his wife.

Tibetan Youth Congress calls for mass participation in freedom movement

Dharamsala, July 29: Tibetans in Dharamsala today held a candle light vigil to call on Tibetan exiles to gear up for major protest demonstrations against Beijing’s hosting of the 2008 Olympic Games next month.
The candle light vigil, organized by the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC) of Dharamsala, the seat of the Tibetan Government-in-exile, here this evening is aimed at urging Tibetans in India, Nepal and elsewhere around the world to come together once again in large numbers in the Indian capital of New Delhi to hold massive mass demonstrations.

La direttiva emanata di recente dal partito comunista cinese è entrata in vigore.
Si intensificano , in tutti i monasteri, le sessioni di “rieducazione patriottica” ed i religiosi vengono strettamente sorvegliati dai funzionari di partito.
I locali dirigenti comunisti hanno il compito di vigilare su ogni attività svolta dai monaci e saranno severamente puniti nel caso si verificassero nuove manifestazioni.
Inoltre gli abati dei monasteri verranno ritenuti personalmente responsabili di ogni nuova protesta e ad essi verrà persino negato il “diritto di reincarnarsi”.

TYC launches indefinite hunger strike without food and water in New Delhi

New Delhi, July 28 - TYC is back with its second phase of Tibetan People's Mass Movement to protest against the Beijing Olympics and the unacceptable colonial occupation of Tibet. As part of its series of campaigns in the run up to the Games, TYC launched an 'Indefinte Fast for Tibet- without Food and Water' at Jantar Mantar today.

30 Tibetan Exiles Arrested Near China-Nepal Border

Kathmandu, July 28 - At least 30 Tibetan exiles were arrested at Batase area of Sindhupalchowk district near China-Nepal border this morning after they tried to cross into Tibet as part of a protest against Chinese rule.
The Tibetans, including several monks, had trekked to Batase, about a week ago. 'The Tibetans were arrested as they sheltered in the village ahead of their attempt to cross the border into Tibet,' police inspector Suraj KC said. 'We will send them back to Kathmandu later during the day,’ he added. The Tibetan exiles had started their trek from Sankhu village.

China plans sweeping purge of Tibetan monasteries

China is planning a sweeping purge of Tibetan monasteries, including banning all worship at those deemed to be major centres of subversion.
Monks with "attitude problems", or who refuse to change their thinking in line with official demands, will be dismissed or jailed.
Abbots and other leaders who fail to carry out government orders to "re-educate" their charges will be replaced by the regime's appointees.

Under Olympics House Arrest

Key rights advocates and social activists across China will spend the Olympics confined to their homes under round the clock surveillance. Some have been warned off talking to the media, while others cannot be reached by phone.
Qi Zhiyong, a Beijing-based rights activist who lost a leg during the armed crackdown in the capital in 1989, said he had been ordered to leave the city for the duration of the Olympic Games.

China Group Asserts That It Bombed Buses

Officials Play Down Claims on Video, Which Includes Threats to Olympics
BEIJING, July 26 -- A group calling itself the Turkestan Islamic Party has released a video asserting responsibility for deadly bus bombings last week in China's western Yunnan province and other recent incidents, and threatening attacks during the Olympic Games.

The Chinese government, which has warned that terrorism is the biggest threat to the Olympics and has mounted a massive security effort, played down the group's claims, some of which were inconsistent with details of the incidents.

I monasteri di Drepung e Nechung sono ancora circondati dai reparti speciali e non riesco ad avere notizie delle centinaia di monaci che mancano all’appello.

Oggi ho avuto conferma di alcuni arresti effettuati nelle scorse settimane :
A Tewo County due tibetani sono stati arrestati per aver partecipato ad una manifestazione e scattato delle fotografie.Sembra siano accusati di “separatismo e spionaggio” e rischiano l’ergastolo.
Altri due manifestanti sono stati arrestati nel distretto di Markham per aver inscenato una protesta pacifica e lanciato slogan indipendentisti.

Il signor Yang Weihua, 35 anni, viveva nel villaggio di Yongxing, nel distretto di Hulan della città di Harbin, provincia dell’Heilongjiang. Iniziò a praticare il Falun Gong nel 1996 e la pratica gli portò molto benefici, sia fisicamente che spiritualmente. Fu arrestato e detenuto per tre volte negli ultimi nove anni. Il 3 aprile 2003, alcuni agenti della stazione di polizia di Heping lo arrestarono e lo tennero in detenzione per tre mesi nel carcere di Hulan. Poi lo condannarono a tre anni ai lavori forzati e lo portarono nel campo di lavoro forzato di Harbin.

Chinese Regime Delays Live Olympic Broadcast by Ten Seconds

The Chinese communist regime enhances rigorous supervision over the broadcast of the competition events in order to prevent unexpected incidents during the Beijing Olympic Games. According to Ming Pao in Hong Kong, China’s Department of Propaganda of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee (CCPCC) has recently ordered all TV stations in China to delay the live broadcast of the Olympic Games by ten seconds.

Nepal police detain 125 Tibetan protesters

KATHMANDU, July 25 (Reuters) -- Nepali police said on Friday they had detained 125 Tibetan refugees, including nuns and monks, for trying to storm a Chinese consular office in Kathmandu.
More than 20,000 Tibetans live in Nepal and many of the exiles have protested regularly in Kathmandu, calling for the freedom of Tibet and against the Chinese crackdown on demonstrations in the Himalayan
region in March.

US Congressional Panel Advances Rights Measure Linked to Olympics

A resolution calling on China's government to end human rights abuses, cut links with brutal governments, and end media restrictions has moved ahead in the U.S. Congress. VOA's Dan Robinson reports, action by the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee is designed to put pressure on China ahead of the 2008 Olympics.
The resolution calls on China to immediately end abuses of the human rights of its citizens, including what it calls repression of Tibetan and Uighur people in China.
